Kingdon Street to close

As part of the Newmarket rail upgrade, Kingdon Street (between Short Street and Carlton Gore Road) will be closed from midnight on Saturday 6 October to allow for the construction and operation of a temporary rail station. That end of Kingdon Street will remain closed to vehicle traffic until December 2009. For more information, phone the Newmarket rail upgrade hotline on 270-4404 or visit www.projectdart.org.nz.
Public consultation on what Newmarket's new railway station will look like is expected to start in November, with the existing station and precinct to be closed for 18 months from January 2008.
